Day 2: Cuddling somewhere

It was midnight, and Elphaba was awake. She knew it was that time at night since her roommate sneaked under her blankets, shivering- probably because she was scared or possibly because she was cold. Probably both. After all, Elphaba’s bed was always freezing; as if nobody ever slept there.

Glinda’s actions always surprised Elphaba. And since the first day she felt tempted to inform her about her incompetence as a Ninja. Because she was sure that Glinda thought that she was undetectable, as well as Elphaba knew that she ignored how easily it was to wake her up, that Glinda didn’t know that she wouldn’t go back to sleep until she returned to her bed… 10 minutes before 7:00 am. 

And yet she never did told her a word about it in the morning. She would never do it. Because her behavior had caught her attention, it was weird…weird as the human nature can be, weird that somebody could actually feel safe laying next to her in a bed instead of being alone some good 30 inches away. Where Glinda’s bed was located. 

Nobody had ever felt safe around her. Not even Nessa would have dare to look for her company in a peach dark night when they were kids. 

So why? What was it that was so terrifying in a dream that could force sweet and beloved Glinda to sleep hugging her back?

Elphaba had thought about it for multiple and sleepless nights, thought she never found an answer that convinced her. Thus she had allowed her to intrude into her personal space.

So there she was again, awake in the middle of the night as the blond one shivered next to her back. 

Elphaba sighed and turned around, putting an arm around her, pretending that she was still sleeping. She then discovered that her acting skills were as good as Glinda’s Ninja abilities. 

- Elphy- Glinda whispered, but she didn’t sound surprised- I’m sorry I woke you up…

-It’s ok- said the one in question. Her voice sounded dry, since she hadn’t had talked in hours. 

-Can we… can we cuddle tonight?- she asked, and her voice broke.

Elphaba didn’t reply. She just hugged her and allowed her to cuddle in her arms until she was almost asleep. Just then Glinda stopped shivering, and she could forget that their last year together was almost over…Glinda could forget that soon that beautiful green lemon was going to stop being just 30 inches away for her at night.
